As part of the virtual event "Durch Kooperation an die Spitze. The automotive industry is shaping the digital transformation", the VDA joint project "AI Knowledge", to which Alexander Thamm GmbH is making a significant contribution by leading a working group, among other things, received 17.4 million euros in funding.

The innovative joint project "AI Knowledge" bundles the know-how of various companies with the aim of contributing to the establishment and explicability of AI in Germany - and ultimately to Germany's AI leadership as a business location. To this end, Alexander Thamm GmbH, together with Continental and many other exciting partners, is developing methods for the integration and extraction of explicit, already known and new knowledge in the field of machine learning. The working group led by Alexander Thamm GmbH extracts concepts from learned models and thus contributes to an increase in the functional quality, data efficiency, plausibility and explainability of AI-supported functions for automated driving.

The funding decision for 17,400,232 euros was handed over yesterday by Peter Altmaier, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, and Thomas Jarzombek, Commissioner of the BMWi for Digital Economy and Start-Ups and Coordinator of the Federal Government for Aerospace, was presented with the award. Jointly organised by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), the remote event focused on the transformation and digital future of Germany as an automotive location. In 2021 alone, around 600 million euros will be made available by the Federal Government to support in particular the initiatives of small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of AI and autonomous driving support.

Alexander Thamm GmbH is looking forward to continuing to work on this groundbreaking project together with its partners in the coming years and to contributing and expanding its own expertise.
