#InsideAT - Our new Data Engineer Christian Baur

In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Christian Baur's turn. He starts with us as a data engineer - in the interview he tells us what drove him to it, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

What position will you take on at [at]?

I will work as a data engineer.

How did you find out about [at]?

During my job search on LinkedIn, I kept coming across [at]. Since I would like to develop in the direction of data science and data engineering in any case, the application was the logical consequence.

Why did you choose [at]?

The very good application process, the openness in all interviews and the projects that have already been successfully mastered (Vorwerk Thermomix).

What are you looking forward to the most?

Exciting projects, new insights and many things to learn.

What did you do before?

I was a master's student at Porsche AG in the Predictive Maintenance Analytics department.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Esslingen am Neckar and grew up not far from there.

What do you do in your spare time?

Playing the trumpet in various orchestras and voluntary work in the music society

What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?

In 2015, I had the opportunity to travel to Botswana for almost 4 weeks. Next to that is a semester abroad in Norway. I would love to see South America.

What was your dream job as a child?

There really wasn't.

What is your favourite film / series?

The Green Mile and Game of Thrones (We all know what happened in season 8...)

How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

Curious

What are your three most important work utensils?

Laptop, Internet, Whiteboard

What was the last book you read?

Utopias for realists

What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?

Socks

What used to be your favourite subject at school?

Geography

What would you get up for in the middle of the night?

My dog

What do you always carry in your pocket?

Mobile phone, wallet, keys
