#InsideAT - Our new Data Science Trainee Arnaud Frering

from | 29 July 2021 | #InsideAT

In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Arnaud Frering's turn. He is starting with us as a Data Science Trainee - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

What position will you take on at [at]?

At AT, I will take on the position of Data Science Trainee from July 2021.

How did you become aware of AT?

By chance, during my job search, I came across a job offer. That's how I discovered [at] as a company and I became curious about the projects they were working on here.

Why did you choose [at]?

I always try to get out of my comfort zone a bit. So the challenge of starting my working life in Germany suited me very well. But that wasn't the only thing, because I was also looking for a company with which I share the same values.

What are you looking forward to the most?

I am most excited to see the impact of our work with the team, as my last few projects have been a bit short on that.

What did you do before?

Before joining [at], I finished my studies at IMT Mines Alès, a French engineering school in the south of France. There, my focus was AI and Data Science and I did internships on Deep Learning for image recognition as well as Machine Learning.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in France, near Strasbourg.

What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?

My favourite destination so far has been Croatia, because the area around Split is actually just like my holiday picture. I will definitely go to Poland because the Corona restrictions ended my Erasmus there and because the landscapes really impressed me.

What is your favourite series?

I don't know if it's my favourite series, but the anime "Attack on Titan" had a big impact on me because very deep themes are dealt with through these childish drawings.

What was the last book you read?

The last book I read was "The History of Japan and the Japanese". It was actually very interesting to discover the background of this culture, as I hardly knew anything before.

What would you get up for in the middle of the night?

Since there are currently the NBA Finals, I (sometimes) get up at night to watch the most exciting NBA games!
