In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Luca Bruder's turn. He is starting with us as a Data Scientist - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.
What position will you take on at AT?
I start at AT as a Data Scientist.
How did you become aware of AT?
I was already working as a data scientist alongside my doctorate and became aware of AT in connection with my work at the time.
Why did you choose AT?
AT offers a large number of different topics in which I can contribute and deepen my expertise. In addition, a lot of emphasis is placed on the further training of employees, which gives me the chance to develop personally and professionally.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am most looking forward to developing creative solutions for exciting and diverse problems in a motivated team.
What did you do before?
Before joining AT, I did my PhD at the University of Cologne.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Cologne and still like living there.
What do you do in your spare time?
The free time I have left besides my family is mainly used for the martial art Jiu-Jitsu. Jiu-Jitsu is a mixture of wrestling, judo and other martial arts.
What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
My favourite destination so far has been Bali (and the surrounding islands). I would love to travel to Costa Rica.
What was your dream job as a child?
As a child, I always dreamt of becoming a professional footballer. Unfortunately, that was never really realistic.
What is your favourite film / series?
My favourite series is Avatar. Avatar is more for children, but I haven't found a better series yet.
What was the last book you read?
The last book I read was Prince of Fools.
What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?
I couldn't go on holiday without a good book. Without books I would die of boredom.
What used to be your favourite subject at school?
My favourite subject at school was psychology. I was always very interested in how and why people make certain decisions and what makes us who we are.
What would you get up for in the middle of the night?
I sometimes get up in the middle of the night to watch live sporting events in America.
What do you always carry in your pocket?
This may sound cheesy, but I always have a photo of my family with me, apart from the boring things like my mobile phone, keys and wallet.
