#InsideAT: Our new Senior Data Science Project Manager Dr Andreas Schmidt

In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new staff members. Today it's the turn of Dr Andreas Schmidt. Andreas starts with us as a Senior Data Science Project Manager - in this interview he tells us what drove him to this position, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

About your way to us

What position will you take on at AT?

Andreas Schmidt: I start as a Data Project Manager. But before that, I was already involved in all areas of the Data Journey on the way.

How did you become aware of AT?

Andreas Schmidt: We made a project together 😉

Why did you choose AT?

Andreas Schmidt: I felt at home with you quite quickly, and that didn't change until I accepted...

What are you looking forward to the most?

Andreas Schmidt: Here's to shaping cool projects with and continuing the journey together.

What did you do before?

Andreas Schmidt: I was at university for a long time, then I spent a couple of years in the IT/IT sector.Digitisation-Counselling. The Data topics in the broadest sense have emerged as the main focus.

About yourself

Where were you born and raised?

Andreas Schmidt: In Swabia (Nürtingen) - I am very happy about Swabian jokes on Slack!

What do you do in your spare time?

Andreas Schmidt: Travelling, climbing and drinking coffee.

What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?

Andreas Schmidt: Very difficult, but road trippin' up the US West Coast was an absolute highlight. Pending and already postponed a few times: South Africa.

What was the last book you read?

Andreas Schmidt: The last thing I read was Skin in the game by Nassim Taleb.

What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?

Andreas Schmidt: On my climbing shoes.

What would you get up for in the middle of the night?

Andreas Schmidt: Actually, early flights and sunrises at the mountain top, but even there the willingness is decreasing.
