by | 13 November 2019 | #InsideAT

In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new new employees. Today it's Thomas Hecker's turn. He starts with us as Chief Financial Financial Officer - in this interview he tells us what drove him to it, his background and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

Which position are you taking on at AT?

As Chief Financial Officer, I would like to actively accompany the strong growth of Alexander Thamm. I am particularly pleased about the versatile services and projects. Through the end-to-end coverage of the Data Journey new delivery models, exciting partnerships and start-ups are created almost daily. The agile organisation helps to react quickly to new requirements and to test own developments. Given the great complexity, finances are of course an important enabler.

How did you hear about AT come to your attention?

Alexander Thamm is a force to be reckoned with in the market. I had already heard through friends about the excellent Corporate culture and was able to convince myself very quickly. The office with the great alpine panorama is an absolute dream.

Why did you Why did you choose AT?

Data Science is firmly anchored in the strategy of almost all companies and offers enormous potential for efficiency gains, new business models and completely new insights. I was strongly convinced by the excellent references and employees. I was able to exchange ideas with the employees at the barbecue before my first job interview and was enthusiastic right from the start.

What are you are you looking forward to the most?

In my opinion, Alexander Thamm is perfectly positioned for the future. The company is not only active in one of the most important markets for new developments, but can also implement them quickly and directly. I think that the visionary positioning and great culture are very important assets.

What did you done before?

My background in the consulting and finance industry has allowed me to be heavily involved with new business models and almost all finance topics over the last few years. At my first station, there was a big focus on institutional investment management, general meetings, analyst conferences and various asset classes. After that, I was allowed to build up finance in a young area and establish a variety of topics from strategy to quality and process management.

What do you do in your free time?

Due to the favourable location of Munich, I always enjoy doing sports in nature or in the mountains. I like a variety of different sports: running, hiking, swimming, cycling, canoeing and much more.

What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?

I was recently in Israel and would definitely like to go back again. The nature, culture and food are really extraordinary and fascinate me a lot. Otherwise, Tanzania and South Africa are very high on my list for future travel destinations.

How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

The only way to grow is to keep challenging yourself.

What was the last book you read?

"A Brief History of Almost Everything by Bill Bryson. I find the insights into the different fields of science very exciting and how all the famous people and discoveries are interwoven.

What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?

I am a big fan of noise-cancelling headphones. Especially on planes or long journeys, they are great for listening to audio books, films or series.
