In the #InsideAT Series we would also like to introduce our new employees. We will start with Carsten Böhmwho celebrated his one-year anniversary on Monday. Data Science Trainee Programme has started with us. In the interview, you can find out what Carsten did before, why he is joining AT and what his dream job was as a child.
1. what position do you take on at AT?
I start as a Data Science Trainee an.
2. how did you become aware of AT?
In the Master's programme I heard for the first time about Data Science and immediately became enthusiastic about it. I therefore looked around on the internet for jobs in this direction and came across AT in a very classic way.
3. why did you choose AT?
I was looking for start-ups and smaller companies because I didn't want to get lost in a corporation and had no desire for long and complicated decision-making processes. I liked AT's website and description right away. The trainee programme then convinced me that it was the ideal career entry.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am looking forward to meeting many new people and hope to gain a lot of experience in the field of data science.
5. what did you do before?
After my bachelor's degree in medical informatics in Heilbronn and Heidelberg, I did my master's degree in business informatics in Würzburg. For my master's thesis, I conducted a prediction of working time bookings at customer level using gradient tree boosting for an SAP consulting company. After graduating, I took some time off and flew to Colombia to travel around the country and learn Spanish.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Stuttgart and grew up in Weinstadt, a small town about 15 km outside of Stuttgart.
7. what do you do in your free time?
In my free time I like to do sports (bouldering, running, badminton, squash, skiing, hiking), do a lot with friends, watch series and strum my guitar a bit now and then.
8. what was your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
Even though it's hard for me to choose a country, I would choose Colombia as my best destination. Next, I would like to travel to Mexico or Myanmar. Preferably both, of course.
9. what was your dream job as a child?
That changed all the time. But for the longest time I wanted to be a surgeon.
10. what is your favourite film / series?
My favourite film is Into the Wild. I find too many series good, so I can't decide.
Carsten, thank you very much for the interview and welcome to the AT Team!
