#InsideAT - Our new Data Visualisation Engineer Dr.-Ing. Matthew Bediako Okrah

In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's the turn of Dr Matthew Bediako Okrah. He starts with us as a Data Visualization Engineer - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

Which position are you taking on at AT?

As a data visualisation engineer, I take on the development of customised visualisations and scalable applications. In addition, I support all business units in the area of visual analytics.

How did you hear about AT come to your attention? 

Via LinkedIn I have AT discovered.

Why did you Why did you choose AT?

Right from my first conversation with the people in charge at AT, I was in a positive mood. I was also impressed by the good atmosphere on site. I like the fact that AT gives me the opportunity to combine my experience in data visualisation with my interest in improving business processes. Likewise, AT offers many opportunities for my professional development. After all, I can learn a lot of new things here.

What are you are you looking forward to the most?

I look forward to working with my colleagues, to the varied projects in different sectors and to the beautiful view from the office window.

What did you done before?

I did my doctorate in transport planning and modelling at the Technical University of Munich and worked there as a research assistant for several years. Afterwards, I was a geospatial business and data analyst at Telefonica NEXT. Today I am looking forward to working at AT.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born in Asamang (Ghana) and grew up in Kumasi, the second largest city in Ghana.

What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?

A visit to the Maldivian island of Veligandu was dreamlike. I definitely want to do another bigger trip to different countries on a cruise ship.

What was the last book you read?

"The Marriage of Anansewa by Efua Sutherland

What was your dream job as a child?

When I was a child, I always wanted to become a pilot and fly in the sky. Today I prefer to stay on the ground ?

What would you get up for in the middle of the night?

For a call from my mum.
