In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new staff members. Today it's the turn of Dr Jose Berutich. He starts with us as a Senior Data Scientist - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

Which position are you taking on at AT?

I am a Senior Data Scientist.

How did you hear about AT come to your attention? 

AT contacted me via a platform for hiring talent. Here, companies apply to potential employees - and not the other way around.

Why did you Why did you choose AT?

As a consultancy working with the largest German companies, AT works on a variety of interesting projects where I can use my data science skills.

What are you are you looking forward to the most?

Working on large projects that offer real added value.

What did you done before?

I worked as a freelance data scientist for over seven years and also at a few start-ups in the US and UK. Most recently, I founded my own start-up that offered Recommendations as a cloud service. The service can be integrated into any WordPress site as a plugin.

Where were you born and raised?

I come from Marbella, Spain.

What do you do in your free time?

I like to work out in the gym, play music and am a motorsport fan.

What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?

It is very difficult to choose just one place from the countries I have visited. Maybe Alaska. But I would like to travel to Asia and South America.

What are your favourite films?

I like all Mafia films and series. My favourites are classics like The Godfather or series like The Sopranos.

What was the last book you read?

Ken Follet: The Century Saga

What was your dream job as a child?

Secret agent 🙂

What used to be your favourite subject at school?

Physics

What are your three most important work utensils?

Python, Pandas and Scikit-Learn

What would you get up for in the middle of the night?

I hate being woken up from sleep 😉 So when I am, I only get up for an emergency or to get to the airport to catch an early flight.
