In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Louis de Gasté's turn. He starts with us as a trainee data engineer. In the interview, he tells us what drove them to it, what his background is and how he prefers to spend his life outside of work.
Which position are you taking on at AT?
I start as a Trainee Data Engineer an.
How did you hear about AT come to your attention?
I heard about AT through a friend who had worked with AT employee Marco Paul. Then a data scientist from another company recommended AT to me. Finally, I learned more about the company on the website.
Why did you Why did you choose AT?
Only not because of the recommendations, but also because the trainee programme convinces me and there is a great atmosphere. And of course also because of the two foosball tables!
What are you are you looking forward to the most?
The more I learn about the different topics, the cooler it gets. I have to get used to all the tools, but I'm looking forward to doing real data engineering!
What did you done before?
I first studied physics and then kept moving towards computer science and data science. Then I completed a few projects and internships in this direction and now, thanks to AT, I have the opportunity to start my career in data engineering.
Where were you born and raised?
Until I was 18 years old, I lived in France, in a north-western district of Paris. Then I studied in Switzerland and discovered my passion for physics, IT and the Alps. Fortunately, I can also find all of this around Munich ?
What do you do in your free time?
I like to go climbing, in the mountains in summer and indoors in winter. Otherwise I like to play chess (btw I'm always looking for people who like to play ?) and take every opportunity to go sailing on holiday.
What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
Iceland was the perfect trip, with great culture and beautiful scenery. The combination of northern climate and volcanoes is unbeatable! Next year I would like to discover Central Africa.
What is your favourite film?
Definitely Shrek 🙂
What was your dream job as a child?
Like almost every child, I wanted to be an astronaut.
