Together with more than 6,000 other Spartans, the Data Gladiators of Alexander Thamm GmbH on 16 April motivated into the Munich Spartan Race. Over 6 kilometres, the parkour held a few challenges for Andreas, Alexander, Vanessa, Oliver, Magnus and Ludwig.
Not only walls had to be overcome, a bouldering wall and a slackline were also among the over 18 obstaclesthat stood in the way of the runners. They had to jump over fire, swim through the Olympic lake and crawl through one or the other mud pit including barbed wire. They also had to climb high. Walls had to be scaled and the Olympic hill had to be climbed right at the beginning.
One or the other of the participants quickly ran out of breath, but the Data Gladiators proved their staying power. Staying focused was the name of the game at the archery range, because no one wanted to pay the penalty for a failed attempt at 30 burpees. Climbing up a rope out of the water and shimmying along wet poles presented our 6 participants with special challenges. One or two bruises in the form of skin abrasions were also sustained here.
The Data Gladiators were asked to do quite a bit on the day, but with Teamwork and Cohesion even the highest walls could be scaled and the deepest mud trenches overcome. Through particularly clever teamwork and mutual "reaching under each other's arms", the wobbly slackline was also successfully overcome. Here, the Data Gladiators showed that the balance in the team is also right.
With iron will and cohesion, the parkour was finally conquered. After 2 hoursThe Date Gladiators reached the finish line to the loud applause of their supporters after a tough race that demanded endurance, speed and strength as well as skill and coordination from the Data Gladiators. The celebration afterwards was typically spartan with ice white drink, bananas and muesli bars. But of course there was also a beer or two as a reward.
The Spartan Race was an exciting challenge for the whole team, but one that showed everyone that with Team spirit and Sustaining capacity can overcome all the obstacles that are put in your way.
Unfortunately, our Data Gladiator Vanessa, who had fought great until then and bravely overcame every obstacle, injured her foot very shortly before the finish and had to be brought across the finish line on a stretcher. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope that she will be fit again soon!
