#InsideAT - Our new partner and Area Director West Dr. Carsten Dittmar

In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new new staff members. Today it is Dr Carsten Dittmar's turn. He starts with us as as Partner and Area Director West - in this interview he tells us what drove him to his background and how he likes to spend his life outside of work. life apart from work.

Which position are you taking on at AT?

As Partner and Area Director West, I take on a business development role and drive business development with a focus on the western regions of Germany from the new Frankfurt location. With more than 20 years of experience, especially in strategic consulting for data-driven projects, I naturally also accompany our customer projects in this environment and design the foundation for the customer-specific data journey together with our customers. Based on this experience, as Practice Lead for Practice Strategy, I take on the task of continuously developing our service portfolio in these areas. In addition, I am expanding our office in Frankfurt as a team leader and location manager and am happy to welcome every new colleague to the AT family.

How did you hear about AT come to your attention?

AT is not an unknown, small player in the market. After all, AT was one of the first consulting firms to focus entirely on the topic of data science and big data and can look back on an impressive track record of successful projects over the last 7 years. AT is no longer an unknown start-up, but a well-known pioneer in its sector.

The thematic focus and the dynamic and inspiring team convinced me to contribute my experience.

What are you are you looking forward to the most?

Innovative projects and, of course, the unique AT spirit. From the very first moment, you notice that they don't just "do things by the book", but that all their colleagues are passionate about the subject.

What did you done before?

Over the last 15 years, I have worked in various management positions in different consulting firms, also with a thematic focus on business analytics, and therefore also bring broad experience in the classic areas such as data warehousing and business intelligence. ...

Where were you born and raised?

I am a child of the Ruhr area and grew up in Herdecke an der Ruhr, a small town south of Dortmund.

What do you do in your free time?

To compensate for the work-related travelling, I naturally try to spend a lot of time with my family. In addition, I am a passionate skier and try to be in the Alps on my skis as often as possible. Not to forget: I have been a supporter of Borussia Dortmund since my earliest childhood and am at the stadium for almost every game.

What was your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to travel to?

I've already been around quite a bit in Europe, but there are still many interesting places in South America and North America that I definitely want to get to know. California and Canada are still at the top of my to-do list, as is Brazil.

Which book did you read last?

Kicker special edition for the Bundesliga season 19/20...

What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?

Jogging shoes, because I like to jog a little in the fresh air in the evenings for balance

What was your your favourite subject at school?

I belong to the minority that looked forward to Maths lessons.
