#InsideAT - Our new Principal Data Scientist Marcus Bindel

In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Marcus Bindel's turn. He starts with us as a Principal Data Scientist - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

What position will you take on at AT?

I start as a Principal Data Scientist in Andreas Schmidt's team at AT.

How did you become aware of AT?

I have already heard a lot of good things about AT in the professional environment over the last 2 years. In addition, I have regularly followed updates from AT via LinkedIn.

Why did you choose AT?

The independence from industry and technology and the clear focus on data science and AI make AT very interesting for me. In addition, the preliminary interviews left a very good impression with regard to the company culture and teamwork.

What are you looking forward to the most?

I look forward to working with new colleagues, diverse clients and working on challenging projects.

What did you do before?

I spent two years in data analytics in the automotive sector as a senior data scientist and project manager, and before that seven years in satellite image analysis.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and grew up in Eisenach (Thuringia).

What do you do in your spare time?

In my free time I do a lot with my family (2 daughters) and ride gravel bikes.

What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?

The most exciting trip was a trip through Chile and Argentina. On my wish list are Costa Rica, Tanzania, China, Japan and New Zealand.

What was your dream job as a child?

I don't think I had one of those. ?

How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

I am inquisitive, pragmatic and forward-looking.

What are your three most important work utensils?

Laptop, laptop charging cable, headset. ?

What was the last book you read?

Superforecasting: The Art and Science of Prediction

What used to be your favourite subject at school?

History

What would you get up for in the middle of the night?

My children. ?
