In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Sebastian Seiffert's turn. He starts with us as Teamlead Data Science - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.
What position will you take on at [at]?
I start as a team leader in the Tribe of Marcel Weifels
How did you find out about [at]?
I think that if you deal with the topic of data science in the German-speaking world, you can't avoid AT.
Why did you choose [at]?
Because AT has done many things right in recent years and I want to help keep it that way.
What are you looking forward to the most?
Working on exciting projects with great people. I've also heard that the evening programme is usually quite good.
What did you do before?
My last station was a company in the RegTech sector. As a Senior Data Scientist, I helped to build up the data science team and business.
Where were you born and raised?
In Stuttgart. And yes, you can hear that too.
What do you do in your spare time?
Hiking, camping and snowboarding / skiing. And music is very important to me.
What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
I lived in New York City for a while. I like to go there again and again. Next, I would like to go to Southeast Asia.
What was your dream job as a child?
Paramedic or cook
What is your favourite film / series?
Reservoir Dogs and Battlestar Galactica.
How would you describe yourself in one sentence?
Cosmopolitan scientist with borderline-proll hands-on attitude
What are your three most important work utensils?
Mechanical keyboard, a decent display and ANC headphones.
What was the last book you read?
"A Thousand Brains: A New Theory of Intelligence by Jeff Hawkins
What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?
EBook reader and first aid bag
What used to be your favourite subject at school?
Philosophy and Biology
What would you get up for in the middle of the night?
Everything that is more exciting than sleeping. So everything.
What do you always carry in your pocket?
A lighter.
