In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Christian Oedingen's turn. He starts with us as a Principal Data Scientist - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.
What position will you take on at AT?
I join AT as Principal Data Scientist and take over a team in the Tribe from Andreas Hübner and Marcel Weifels.
How did you become aware of AT?
A good friend of mine knew Alexander Thamm from before and brought AT to my attention.
Why did you choose AT?
AT's website immediately aroused my curiosity with its open nature and appealing mission. The personal interviews during the application phase confirmed my first impression and so the matter was clear for me relatively quickly.
What are you looking forward to the most?
New people, new topics, new environment and new corporate culture. A lot is changing for me. I am looking forward to growing together with AT in the new challenges.
What did you do before?
I worked for a large accounting firm for about 10 years. My department there dealt with the investigation and prevention of white-collar crime. In this context, I worked on various data analytics issues.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and grew up near Stuttgart.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love to dance and I am also a dance teacher as a hobby. I also enjoy running and hiking in the mountains on holiday.
What is your favourite film?
Once a year I take time to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
What are your three most important work utensils?
My head to think it up, a piece of paper and a pen to work it out and my laptop to implement it.
What was the last book you read?
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
What used to be your favourite subject at school?
My fondness for mathematics remained with me after school, even during my studies.
What would you get up for in the middle of the night?
For my wife.
