In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new staff members. Today it's the turn of Dr Juliane Kläs. She starts with us as a Principal Data Strategist - in this interview she tells us what drove her to join us, what her background is and how she likes to spend her life outside of work.
What position will you take on at [at]?
I start as a Principal Data Strategist in Innsbruck.
How did you find out about [at]?
I saw a job advertisement online.
Why did you choose [at]?
Because I am very interested in the topic of data science and I wanted to continue my consulting work.
What are you looking forward to the most?
Getting to know new people, helping to establish Austria as a location and accompanying exciting projects.
What did you do before?
I was in a technology consultancy with a focus on automotive.
Where were you born and raised?
Born in Koblenz and raised in Mayen (in the Eifel)
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to be out and about in the mountains. Hiking and mountain biking in summer and skiing in winter. Otherwise, I like to go swimming and work in the garden.
What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
Mexico, Iceland and Japan are the top 3, where I still want to go is New Zealand and Hawaii.
What was your dream job as a child?
I wanted to be a marine biologist for a long time.
What is your favourite film / series?
It's hard, there are so many...Homeland, Designated Surviver
How would you describe yourself in one sentence?
I am inquisitive, enterprising and empathetic
What are your three most important work utensils?
Laptop, mobile phone and notebook
What was the last book you read?
That was Freefall
What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?
Besides the usual things like clothes and toothbrush, there is nothing special.
What used to be your favourite subject at school?
History and biology were my favourite
What would you get up for in the middle of the night?
Only in an emergency or when we go on holiday.
What do you always carry in your pocket?
I always have my mobile phone, wallet and hand cream with me
