In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Sohaib Zafar's turn. He starts with us as a Senior Data Engineer - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.
What position will you take on at AT?
I start as a Senior Data Engineer at AT.
How did you become aware of AT?
A friend told me about AT and was very pleased.
Why did you choose AT?
I am interested in Big Data and AI topics. The interviewers were very friendly and there was a good atmosphere right from the start. I immediately had the feeling that I was welcome, that varied projects were waiting for me and that I could develop optimally here.
What are you looking forward to the most?
What I'm looking forward to most is getting to know all my colleagues and exciting projects.
What did you do before?
I was previously at Continental ADC GmbH as Lead Data Engineer and coordinated an international team of data engineers there.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to go hiking and play table tennis. I have also been dancing for many years.
What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
My favourite travel destination so far has been Tenerife. The landscape simply fascinated me. On my list are definitely Indonesia, especially Bali, and some other Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam.
What is your favourite film / series?
It's hard to say. I like series like "Money Heist", "Breaking Bad" or classics like "King of Queens".
What are your three most important work utensils?
Coffee, Coffee, Google ?
What was the last book you read?
"12 Rules for Life" by Jordan Peterson.
What used to be your favourite subject at school?
My favourite subject at school was physics.
