In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Constantin Sanders' turn. He starts with us as a Senior Data Scientist - in the interview he tells us what drove him to it, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.
What position will you take on at [at]?
I start at [at] as a Senior Data Scientist.
How did you find out about [at]?
I have some personal contacts who have been working at [at] for a long time and have always told me a lot of positive things.
Why did you choose [at]?
The decisive factor was the exciting project references. Apart from that, I heard a lot about the very good atmosphere in the teams and in the company through my "inside" contacts.
What are you looking forward to the most?
In the long term, I would like to significantly deepen my data science knowledge on the practical side. In the short term and especially at the beginning, I am of course looking forward to the coffee breaks and getting to know the [at] team.
What did you do before?
I completed my first Master's degree in German Studies in Karlsruhe and then worked in various marketing departments where I gradually specialised in marketing analytics. At the beginning, I gained first experiences with cluster & classification algorithms autodidactically. The fascination for the various data science topics ultimately led me to complete a part-time second master's degree in "Data Science".
In the course of the last few years, I have finally taken on more and more consulting activities.
Where were you born and raised?
The short version:
Born near Cologne, grew up north of Hamburg 😊
The long version:
I was born near Cologne (Bergheim), at the age of 2 I moved to Munich for 3 years. When I was 5, my family moved on to Weinheim (near Mannheim). However, I spent my really consciously experienced youth between 8 and 20 years north of Hamburg in Elmshorn.
What do you do in your spare time?
I watch a lot, a lot, a lot of football. From time to time I also play myself. Otherwise, I like to cook for and with my girlfriend and spend my free time with friends.
What is your favourite film / series?
I find that there are extremely many good series and films. Besides the usual suspects like "Breaking Bad", "Game of Thrones", "The Office" etc., I think "Arrested Development", "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" or "Parks and Recreation" are particularly noteworthy. Absurdly funny and very good for switching off 😊
Which books did you read last?
"We went out and played football" by Andreas Bernard - Wonderful for reminiscing about childhood football memories.
"Against Hate" by Carolin Emcke - Highly recommended!
What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?
My portable Bluetooth box - How else would I hear the right holiday song at a reasonable volume?!
