In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new employees. Today it's Matthias Lein's turn. He starts with us as a Senior Principal Data Engineer - in the interview he tells us what drove him to it, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.
What position will you take on at [at]?
I am joining as a Senior Principal Data Engineer. In this role, I will help provide technical support to the Engineering Practice across all teams and act as an architect to lead selected projects.
How did you become aware of AT?
I was directly approached about the opportunities at AT.
Why did you choose AT?
During the application process, all my interview partners were enthusiastic about the working atmosphere and business culture at AT. That convinced me.
What are you looking forward to the most?
Again: corporate culture - I am looking forward to working in such a dynamic and motivated team.
What did you do before?
I was in research and development for a long time and then built a large development platform for autonomous driving as Chief Technologist since 2019.
Where were you born and raised?
I grew up in Bruchköbel, in the Frankfurt area.
What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
I lived in New Zealand for 15 years. I would like to go there again.
What are your three most important work utensils?
Mechanical keyboard, headphones with active noise cancellation, Stack Overflow
What was the last book you read?
The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, very exciting science fiction from China.
What used to be your favourite subject at school?
Chemistry. I also started my working life in this field.
What would you get up for in the middle of the night?
Pizza.
