In our #InsideAT series we regularly present new staff members. Today it's the turn of Dr Vlad Ardelean. He starts with us as a Senior Principal Data Scientist - in this interview he tells us what drove him to join, what his background is and how he likes to spend his life outside of work.

The 'Mindeset' of the people has convinced me

Working with my team and Tribe
What did you do before?
I was Data Science Team lead at GfK.
Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Romania but grew up around Nuremberg
What do you do in your spare time?
I like being outdoors: climbing, cycling
What has been your favourite travel destination so far and where would you definitely like to go?
I spent 2 months in Cuba with my family and on bicycles and would like to do a longer bicycle tour through Latin America again.
What was your dream job as a child?
Dinosaur researchers, if such a thing even exists.
What is your favourite film / series?
I like it dystopian (Snowpiercer ) or science fiction heavy ( The expanse )
What are your three most important work utensils?
Pen, paper and a laptop
What was the last book you read?
"The Road by Cormac McCarth,. It took me longer to finish it, although it is not thick, because the story depressed me so much. Nevertheless, or perhaps because of that, it is well worth reading.
What could you definitely not do without in your travel suitcase?
Mobile phone ( because of the music)
What used to be your favourite subject at school?
Maths
What would you get up for in the middle of the night?
For my children.
What do you always carry in your pocket?
Handkerchiefs
