Challenge

The aftersales division of an automotive manufacturer is evaluating an expansion of its maintenance offering to include preventive, data-driven offerings.
In order to be able to select suitable components for a pilot programme, a Assessment of the forecasting potential The data is needed for failure and swap behaviour with existing data.

Solution

Based on the information available from the vehicle history in the Aftersales Data Warehouse the failure and replacement behaviour of two central engine components is investigated with the help of survival and classification models.

Result

The Forecast potential can be demonstrated for one of the components investigated.
For the second component, the available data do not allow for a forecast at this point in time.
