Data Visualization in Automotive After-Sales

Problem

An international car manufacturer provides its partner repair shops with a maintenance platform that organizes the entire repair process. This generates large volumes of after-sales data with significant potential. Yet, transparency is still lacking when it comes to key questions such as: Is the platform being used correctly? What turnover is being generated with the platform? 

While it delivers the necessary data, it does not offer embedded visualizations or interactive features that make the information easy to understand and actionable for business decisions. On top of this, the variety of systems and data formats complicates the seamless integration of data into the central data lake and ultimately into the dashboard. 

The central challenge, therefore, was to develop an interactive dashboard with meaningful visualizations that empower employees to quickly grasp relevant after-sales data and make informed decisions.

Approach

Designing a PowerBI Dashboard

To create transparency around the usage and added value of the maintenance platform, our [at]-Experts worked closely with the customer’s management to develop an interactive PowerBI dashboard.

Development und Testing

Early sketches served to visually test analytical hypotheses and quickly refine them through iterative prototypes. Since real data was not fully available in the beginning, we used so-called dummy data to build initial prototypes and collect feedback at an early stage.

Corporate Data Visualization

The final dashboard combines a clear high-level overview with interactive, detailed views of individual modules. This enables users to gain both a quick understanding and the ability to drill down into specific data as needed. Our user-centric approach to visualization makes the solution practical and directly aligned with the manufacturer’s key business questions.

Result

Dashboard for Automotive

In just five weeks, our experts developed an application-ready dashboard and successfully connected the first relevant data sources. This laid a solid foundation for systematically evaluating platform data and supporting data-driven after-sales decisions. By presenting information visually, employees can absorb insights far more quickly than from text alone, given that visualizations accelerate both understanding and action. As a result, the solution enhances operational efficiency, improves forecasting, and enables a more targeted alignment of marketing and product strategies.
